What does the treatment involve?
The treatment involves preparation, assessment and monitoring of changes, evaluation of overall structure, jaw and sacrum.
Treatment comprises:
case history
preparatory relaxation and comfort
evaluation
direct working on the muscles, bone and joint
rechecking and additional advice/cautions
follow up treatment(s) to check progress.
Indications - what Atlas Align
®
is good for?
Any set of persistent or recurrent physical and/or emotional symptoms.
The feeling that you are not getting anywhere, however hard you try.
Sense of feeling ‘blocked’ or ‘thwarted’ and held back.
Inability to identify or confront the source of the problem.
Atlas treatment can take ‘the brakes off’ that sense of going round in circles or even spiralling downwards is overcome.
How can working on one joint alone have such far-reaching effects?
The pattern has been held, locked in place for a very long time - often since birth or early childhood.
It has been discovered that the structural compression or lack of movement can be mirrored in a mental-emotional sense of being repressed, depressed or limited and once this release is effected, it is as if the ‘magic key’ to unlock the ‘held’ pattern of negativity and self-sabotage has finally been found.
Will the ‘release’ be permanent?
Yes! Experience has shown that this method works once and for all to shift the laid down pattern.
How many treatments are required?
Often a profound change is apparent immediately. The benefits will continue to unfold over time, but no further treatments may be necessary.
Others will need support to integrate the intensity of the changes occurring, as physical, emotional and mental releases take place. Some rebalancing of jaw or sacrum, with the new found freedom in the head and neck, may be indicated.
"Finally I feel I’m heading in the right direction..."
is the response most frequently heard after treatment.
How is it done?
The neck/sub-occipital area is delicate and a high level of skill and awareness are required to effect an accurate repositioning of the structures in relation to each other. The treatment is done manually with a combination of pressure, positional holding and vibration. Various wedges and blocks are used to assist the release.
What does it feel like?
There is no ‘adjusting’, ‘crunching’ or sudden thrusting as in conventional osteopathy or chiropractic. Although the sensations around the top of the neck can be quite intense, most people are happy to go through the process. Occasionally, particularly if there are any acute symptoms manifesting, a lighter touch is indicated and, if needed, more work can be done during the follow-up.
Do I need to undress
Not if you are uncomfortable about it but you do need to wear loose fitting clothing - jogging pants and t-shirt are ideal
